Pen y Bont Cottage is set amidst the stunning scenery of the Cambrian Mountains in the southern part of the Snowdonia National Park. The cottage was fully renovated in 2013 and provides a welcoming home from home, with everything needed to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Pen y Bont is a traditional stone cottage set in a spectacular location on the banks of the River Dovey, mid way between Dolgellau and Machynllyth, centrally located for both the mountains and coast.
The village of Mallwyd is a short stroll away with a welcoming 15th century coaching inn as well as a shop, cafe and petrol station. Dinas Mawddwy nearby has more pubs and the famous Merion Mill. There are plenty of tourist facilities, supermarkets, shops, pubs and restaurants in nearby Dolgellau not to mention the wealth of exhilarating outdoor pursuits within easy reach. The Centre for Alternative Technology is also nearby.
To the west are the beaches of Aberystwyth, Aberdovey, Barmouth and Llanbedr whilst further north is the celebrated Italianate village of Portmerion, the harbour town of Portmadog and the famous Black Rock Sands. Further afield are the spectacular lakes of Bala and Vyrnwy plus the Snowdon mountain range.
You can base your activity holiday from the cottage to include walking and climbing, underground mine tours, sailing, Salmon & Trout fishing (permits available locally), horse riding and golf. At a gentler pace, you can explore the famous Mawdach estuary, board a steam train to Welshpool or simply stay at the cottage and spot Red Kites, Otters, Sea Trout and, if you are lucky, watch the Salmon leap up the waterfall!
